Diving & Boating

Underwater

Ready to explore underwater life? Our diving centre organises scuba diving sessions, subject to weather conditions.

For beginners, the diving centre offers introductory dives (‘Baptême de plongée’) for groups of maximum 6 people lasting 45 minutes.

Scuba diving courses provided: CMAS (Confederation Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques) Level 1 Diving Course: 6 dives over a minimum of 3 days. The beginner will receive a certificate MSDA (Mauritius Scuba Diving Association) and an international diving card upon completion of the diving course.

Boat trips are scheduled 2 or 3 times daily, depending on bookings, with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 7 people per trip.

Sea Discoveries

Sea discoveries are one of the main attractions in Rodrigues. Our diving centre offers a variety of fishing activities and exciting boat trips tailored to your preferences. Here are some options to consider:

For private boat requests, the centre arranges trips to Saint François, Rivière Banane, Baladirou, and Grand-Baie.

Tours

Island Tour

This is a full day tour, departing from Cotton Bay around 8.30 a.m. The itinerary takes you along Marie Reine de Rodrigues- Port Mathurin Market – the North coast- the François Leguat Nature Reserve –the South Coast – Visit to Cathédrale St Gabriel. The day includes a lunch stop over at a Rodriguan home. You will be back at the hotel around 4 p.m.

François Leguat Reserve

Want to meet 100-years old creatures? Some of the tortoises at the François Leguat Reserve have reached such a venerable age. Stroll through the lower valley, which was a natural haven centuries before humans arrived. Here, tortoises of all ages are lovingly cared for, while graceful red-tail tropic birds soar above, nesting in the rocky valley walls. And if you feel a connection, you can even adopt a tortoise during your visit.

Saturday bazar

From very early in the morning on Saturdays, the whole island is buzzing. From dawn, cars, trucks, and motorcycles are on the roads as locals make their way to the popular Port-Mathurin market fair. You will enjoy walking among the “pêle-mêle” stalls of woven baskets, dried fish, local honey, condiments, local nougat and unique handicrafts like shell jewellery and coconut creations. Don’t miss the lively scene where people gather to buy the catch of the day, while fresh vegetables, maize, pots of jams and savouries are displayed under the main roof.

Ile aux Cocos

Set off for a day of discovery at a bird reserve. The transport will take you to Baie du Nord where you will take a boat across the vast and shallow lagoon up to Ile aux Cocos. The islet is home to thousands of sea birds, including sea sterns and the beautiful “Oiseau de la Vierge”. A picnic lunch is included in the tour.

Port-Mathurin

Welcome to Port-Mathurin, the vibrant heart of Rodrigues. Discover its charm through old tropical houses, narrow streets, and a lively harbour. This half-day trip invites you to explore the local crafts, from woven baskets and island-style garments to coconut crafts and savoury treats. It’s the perfect opportunity to bring a piece of Rodrigues home with you.

Zip lining

Seeking a thrill? Try our local zip lining adventure! Walk across a steep bridge to the platform and zip high above the spectacular Mourouk valley. Enjoy breathtaking views of the southern coast and the ocean stretching out before you. Our instructors are ready to guide children and young adults through this exciting experience.

Ile aux chats & Ile Hermitage

Take a boat across the lagoon that circles the southern coast. Along the way, you’ll see wave riders on their windsurf boards and others performing incredible acrobatic jumps with their kitesurf or wingsurf. The islets of Ile aux Chats and Hermitage sit in the middle of this immense lagoon, inviting you to enjoy a swim and a picnic under the filao trees.

Caverne Patate

An emblematic spot in Rodrigues, Caverne Patate is a speleological site of coral formation in the south-west of Rodrigues. Descend into the caves and marvel at a subterranean world of stalactites and stalagmites that stretch over 1000 meters. Equipped with lights, you can walk along the cave passages, where strange shapes emerge from the coral walls, sparking your imagination and transporting you to a hidden fantasy world. This half-day excursion is an unforgettable journey into the heart of Rodrigues’ natural wonders.
